Founded on June 4, 1974, Akron Gasket and Packing Enterprises (AGAPE) was established by David A. Ray and his son, Carter Ray, with a vision to create a company fully dedicated to high-quality gasket and industrial packing solutions. After spending 21 years in the belt and hose distribution industry, David recognized the growing need for a specialized gasket manufacturer capable of delivering superior products and service to industrial customers. With David leading sales and purchasing operations and Carter managing production, AGAPE began operations in a modest 1,000-square-foot facility equipped with a single clicker press and basic fabrication equipment. Through strong customer relationships, dedication to quality, and continuous growth, the company rapidly expanded, relocating three times within its first 25 years to accommodate increasing demand and workforce growth. In 2006, AGAPE moved into its current state-of-the-art facility spanning more than 40,000 square feet with over five acres available for future expansion. Following the passing of founder David A. Ray in 2012, the company continues to thrive under the leadership of his sons — Carter Ray (CEO), Craig Ray (President), and Matt Ray (Vice President) — carrying forward the legacy, values, and vision upon which AGAPE was built.
