OUR HISTORY
When two friends, Arthur Baker and Don Provan, returned from World War II in 1946, they established a firm in St Marys on a block that is now a portion of the Baker & Provan property. They bought an optical profile grinder.
Members of the Baker family bought Don Provan's holdings after he left the company in 1976 to pursue a career in farming.
Baker & Provan started evolving from its toolmaking roots around 1975 when the business started focusing on bigger capacity CNC and traditional machining, fabrication, project work, and machine building.
ā
The company was founded in a modest workshop in St Marys, a suburb of western Sydney, where it is still based today.
The business entered the defense market in 1989.
