Robert R. Steele and Ronnie Cook established the family-run and veteran-owned business C & S General Machine in a cramped garage in Louisville, Kentucky, in April 1969. As the company expanded, Cook and Steele relocated from the first 180 square foot shop to the original C & S General Machine production campus, which was just down the road, in 1973.Up to the beginning of the 1980s, the two business partners had prosperity.
