Centauro's history started in 1958 in Arcore, which was chosen as the Piaggio and Gilera group's production hub at the time.

It took its name from here, after the old Centaurs, great motorbike enthusiasts, when it was founded as the main supplier of these two big motorcycle manufacturers.

The name also inspired the business logo, which depicts the Centaur, a mythological creature that is half man and half horse, with the shield replaced by a globe to represent the company's spirit of reaching out to markets all over the world.
