Charles Curbbun founded DDSTUDIO, a reputable global design and innovation firm with its headquarters located in Southern California, in 1984. Over the course of its more than thirty-year history, DDSTUDIO has transformed from an industrial design consultancy to a strategic human-centered product development firm that is well-known for producing outstanding design solutions. Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Charles received his education under IDEO co-founder Bill Moggridge. Asking individuals what they wanted and then designing something to satisfy those desires was Bill's design philosophy. These sensible ideas form the foundation of DDSTUDIO's methodology, which is now known as Human Centered Design. In order to create the first Qualcomm phone and collaborate with other up-and-coming tech firms, Charles relocated the business from Long Beach to San Diego.
