One of the first electronics manufacturing businesses to establish itself in Orange County, California, was EECO, formerly known as the Electronic Engineering Company of California, which was founded in 1947. EECO has been an inventor and pioneer in such diverse fields as videotape editing equipment, passenger entertainment systems for airlines, and computer systems for the hotel business.
EECO, a pioneer in binary-coded switches, created a large range of thumbwheel switches and unveiled the printed circuit-board-mounted coded switches, STRIPSWITCH® and Micro-DIP®. Having been in the business for more than 30 years, EECO is also among the oldest producers of membrane switches.
Transico, Inc. acquired the EECO Switch Division in 1993. The business relocated to a newly constructed building in Brea, California, in 2003, where it now maintains both its corporate headquarters and membrane production plant.
