Australian-based Macks Rubber is a family-run business. Early in 1984, the business was established to meet the needs of the regional and interstate steel industries as well as those of the local engineering contractors operating out of Port Kembla. At first, we just used rubber from outside suppliers, but we quickly recognized that we needed to start creating our own compounds in-house in order to increase our quality and be much more competitive in the market.

We started manufacturing the fundamental rubbers in 1987 after buying our first rubber mill and a ton of raw materials. In the following two to three years, this increased to the point where we needed to make bigger commitments and a move into a plant three times as big as the one we started in was planned.
