Founded in 1998 and based in San Francisco, California, Matter is Nicholas Brawne's design firm. Nick has established a lengthy and prosperous career in furniture design, mechanical design, and industrial design since graduating from the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London in the middle of the 1980s. Prior to Matter, he worked with renowned design consultancies Frogdesign and Fitch, as well as Philips Electronics in the Netherlands and Sony in the USA. Nick has taught at San Jose State University and California College of the Arts, where he was an assistant professor. In addition to receiving multiple accolades and being named on more than 30 design and utility patents, Nick's work has been shown at the Chicago Athenaeum and the Design Museum in London.
