Emilio Mayorga opened Mayorga's Welding in 1963 as a one-man operation in a two-car garage. He worked on a cattle trailer for Mr. Frank Auza as one of his first paid jobs. Mr. Auza was a well-known sheep herder in the community. In addition, Emilio would perform minor maintenance on the neighborhood's rakes, shovels, and axes. Emilio would buy tools like a drill press and a small lathe as soon as he had the money, followed by a band saw, a larger lathe, and still another drill press, etc. As more people learned about Mayorga's Welding, more work began to pour in.
