In a small garage in Niddrie, Victoria, Michael George founded the company in 1983 to produce tooling for the Press Metal and related industries. Michael shifted the company's activities to Tullamarine before relocating to our Campbellfield property and constructing a 2500SQM factory for pressed metal products and roll-forming. We developed become Australasia's largest provider of locking rings for the rigid packaging sector. Wade George took over ownership of the business in 2015 and expanded it to offer sheet-metal engineering & fabrication.

In 2017, Great Doherty Sheet-Metal Products, a pioneer in sheet metal fabrication, was acquired by MCI Metal Stamping. With this acquisition, MCI Metal Stamping changed into the company that it is today, MERIT MANUFACTURING, offering a wide range of repetitive manufacturing and related services.
