Christian and Shigi Walz opened their family-run company in the Vankleek Hill business park in 1995. The ease of access to markets in Montreal, Ottawa, and the US led to the selection of this location.

At first, METEC offered jobs for qualified workers and apprenticeship training opportunities while supplying machine shop and millwright services to nearby industrial and agricultural clients. The company continues to provide precision machining, fabrication, manufacturing, and assembly services as well as bespoke prototyping, design, and an apprentice training school today following a period of continuous growth and four significant expansions.  On demand equipment operator training is offered.

In order to enhance its capacity for problem-solving and provide cutting-edge technologies to North American markets, METEC also collaborates with a number of Canadian and foreign businesses.
