Founded on January 4, 1994, Numerical Machining Complex (NMC) is a public enterprise that falls under the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Cooperatives. Kenya Railways owns 51% of NMC, and Kenya Shipyard Limited holds 49% of the company in government trust.

NMC is a business with a mechanical engineering foundation that is well-equipped with cutting-edge facilities and a highly experienced workforce for the design and production of equipment and components. The facilities include ones for design work, fabrication, foundry work, heat treatment, and a laboratory for metallurgy.

NMC was chosen as a distributor and trainer of Autodesk manufacturing software, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, and Inventor Professional, due to the company's strong experience in Kenya's manufacturing sector.
