I began my adult career as a graphic designer and art director in the publishing and corporate communications industries after earning my art degree from Carleton. I retooled in the 1990s, graduated from Stanford with a master's degree in product design, and started working as a physical product designer. I have now worked as a consultant in product development for more than 20 years. I worked for several years at Design Concepts (Madison, WI) and then Solid Design Solutions (Minneapolis), where I assisted clients in creating consumer electronics, sporting goods, office equipment, medical devices, commercial furnishings, and a few items that are hard to classify. The work has been enjoyable, instructive, and fulfilling.
