Plainville Machine & Tool Company, Inc. (PM&T) was founded in 1965 in Plainville, Connecticut by Henry “Hank” Frey and George O’Brien, initially producing tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures before relocating to its Bristol headquarters in 1967. From the 1970s onward, PM&T broadened its stamping capabilities—adding press capacity through expansions, including major growth in 1980 and a second 300-ton-capable press room in 2006—while leadership transitions after co-founder retirement and later modernization efforts strengthened its design and manufacturing performance. In the 1990s and beyond, the company invested in advanced technologies such as Wire EDM, CAD-based design software, and CNC machining, then expanded into medical manufacturing in 2010, transitioned to third-generation leadership in the 2020s, and further increased production footprint by opening a second Bristol location and acquiring MCM Stamping in 2024.
