Charter Engineering was founded in 1959 by Glenn and Charles Cyphert Sr. Charter Engineering acted as a repair facility for underground mining machinery. Charter Engineering, one of the first rebuild shops in the country, expanded alongside the burgeoning coal sector. Charles converted Charter Engineering into Progressive Industries in 1972 with the help of his sons. In a 52,000 square foot factory called Progressive Industries, they rebuilt underground mining machinery. Since then, we've expanded our line of business. To accommodate all of your manufacturing and machining needs, Precision Tool was added in 2015. Smithers Quality Assessments has certified Precision Tool's Quality Management System to ISO 9001:2015.
