The first printed circuit board (PCB) was created in the basement of a discotheque, right next to an ice cream machine, contrary to the founding myths of American technology companies, which favor garage locations.
Manfred Völker, the founder of our company, hired a few electronic students to build music boxes so he could save money for a new sound system in his dance club. These students' expenses from excessive parties were unpaid at the time. They demonstrated to him how to create basic printed circuit boards using hand-glued layout sheets, a handheld drill, and etching tubs in order to avoid the intricate wiring of box switch components.
