The whole cross section of home appliances, material handling equipment, automotive industry, white goods, and medical diagnostic equipment can be produced by SMEM.At Kolkotta, Maraica Industries was founded in 1955 to produce sheet metal press components for the automotive industry.

The company's operations in Chennai began in 1969 with a 1000-square-foot expansion at Parry's Corner, and they continued there in Palavakkam in 1983. At Bankra, a new unit was started.
