Corr began his career in the foundry industry at the age of 17, gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of foundry operations, from production processes to business management. His dedication to mastering the industry laid the foundation for the company’s long-term success. In 1964, Jim purchased a foundry in Richmond, Virginia and began manufacturing municipal castings. Through his experience, he recognized the advantages of focusing on distribution and supply management, leading him in 1970 to transition the company into a distribution-focused business operating under the name Capitol Foundry of VA., Inc. After relocating to Virginia Beach, Jim initially operated the business from his home, coordinating direct shipments from manufacturing foundries to customers throughout the region. Through hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence, Capitol Foundry steadily expanded its operations, customer base, and market presence. Supported by dedicated family members and employees, the company evolved from a small home-managed operation into a five-acre office and warehouse complex serving customers across the Mid-Atlantic states.
