Even before the term "plastic" was widely used, in June 1945, my grandpa Joseph C. Carbone founded the Bridgeport, Connecticut-based "Modern Glass Company," a one-man business that specialized in same-day car window glass installation. This is how Modern Plastics got its start.

Back in 1989, when I began my career, there were just three of us working for a firm that made reel-to-reel equipment. After expanding to 15 employees in 1994, the company underwent a challenging transition.

I began collaborating with one of the other company's founders in 1995. He founded Selectives LLC, which produced barrel and rack tanks, wheels, and reel-to-reel lines. The business expanded, but he maintained it at 4 or 5 people.

I acquired the plastic fabrication divisions in 2014 and rebranded the company as Polytech.
