SMT can place packages as small as 0402; it can also place BGA, SOIC, PLCC, QFP, and ultra fine pitch packages as small as 0.015 in. The equipment consists of X-ray inspection units, AOI units, convection reflow ovens, high-speed component placers, automatic and semi-automated printers, and electron wave solder machines. The following through-hole assembly functions are available: wire leads, connections, dip, axial and radial insertion, and hand assembly. Leaded and ROHS-compliant assemblies are both offered.
