In 2010, I started my own printed circuit board design and manufacturing company. I hand-assembled PCB assemblies for a nearby boutique guitar effects company in my basement. With just a $150 soldering iron, a variety of hand tools, and some free PCB design software, we were able to bootstrap the business. By investing our earnings back into the company, we transformed from hand-built circuit boards to a fully automated surface mount and through-hole assembly process within two years, and we had a tiny but important impact on this client's trajectory of rapid expansion. Since then, we have increased manufacturing capacity and process capability, diversified our customer base across a range of consumer and industrial markets, deployed EDA, PLM, and MRP software, and more.
