For more than ninety-five years, Ohmite Manufacturing Company has been the industry leader in resistive devices for high voltage, high current, and high energy applications. The company offers wirewound, wire element, thick film, and ceramic composition resistor construction in its entirety.
In 1925, the Ohmite Manufacturing Company opened a modest shop on Chicago's west side. When David T. Siegel founded the company, its primary goal was to produce wirewound and carbon "lug" resistors for Chicago's expanding radio manufacturing sector. Ohmite kept developing to meet the constantly shifting design needs as the electronics industry expanded and advanced. The business relocated to freshly constructed offices and a plant in Skokie, Illinois, in 1953.
By purchase, Ohmite gained access to Memcor-Truohm's wirewound capabilities in 1996 and Ward Leonard's
