In order to fill a hole left by several of the established manufacturers in the extruded plastics market, BD Custom Manufacturing was established in 1993. Plastics extruder BD Custom Manufacturing saw an opening when many of the industry's top players decided to just serve larger clients rather than take care of smaller clients and began producing short runs of custom molded PVC and Polyethylene.

If small to midsize plastics customers are to succeed in their cutthroat marketplaces, BD Custom believes they should receive the same care and opportunities as the volume clients. As a result, BD specialized Manufacturing started to offer small runs, specialized tooling, and quick turnaround times to an expanding number of various manufacturing segments throughout the United States.
