Product design, prototype development, and manufacturing are the main areas of emphasis for Synectic Product Development. Our story started in 1981 when Jeff Stein realised there was a rising demand for high-quality, affordable medical device development. We started building with just three engineers, a few drafting tables, and a rudimentary Apple computer.
The focus of the company strategy was on quick service and competitive pricing. When the industry standard was six weeks, we provided project plans, schedules, and deliverables for a fixed price and were able to produce results in four days. Our engineering strategy was centred on the definition of synectics, a method of problem-solving that encourages original thought, usually among small groups of people with a range of specialised knowledge. Design was a component of this cooperative product creation process.
