On August 14, 1991, EG Industries Berhad was established as a private limited company in Malaysia under the Companies Act, 1965. On 16 October 1992, the firm changed its status to public limited company, and on 27 September 1993, it was listed as an investment holding company on the Second Board of the KLSE. The company specializes in the provision of electronic manufacturing services ("EMS") for world-renowned brand names of electrical and electronic products for several industries, including consumer electronics, ICT, medical, automotive, and telecommunications. It does this through its two largest subsidiaries, SMT Technology Sdn Bhd in Malaysia and SMT Industries Co., Ltd in Thailand.
