In 1947, Jesse Cobb and John Soreng, brothers-in-law, founded Indak Manufacturing Corporation. Indak began developing automobile switches with assistance from Soreng Products Corporation, a maker of appliance controls, switches, and solenoids.
High current blower switches were introduced as an Indak specialty in the 1950s. As an alternative to two-speed blower motors, Indak designed and produced switches and blower speed control resistors in response to customer demand for additional blower speeds.
Additionally, Indak invented lawn tractor key switches, and we continue to lead the market in this regard. Electronic controllers, high current plungers, and accessory switches are among the other lawn and garden equipment available.
In 1962, Indak established Piedmont Automotive Products in Clarkesville, Georgia, as a result of its quickly increasing sales. Piedmont started out as an Indak product assembler before starting to produce parts. Piedmont
