Since its founding, McPherson Plastics has been run and owned by families. The business was founded on the production of tools, and all of the company's current operations are based on the accuracy and precision of that trade.

An experienced tool maker at Span-Brass (now Parker-Hannifin), Bernard McPherson, Sr., was always experimenting with new concepts.  In 1960, McPherson Plastics was established when Bud Sr. took a part-time job with Span-Brass to make plastic ferrules in his garage.

On the present production location, the first building was constructed in 1968. The personnel and client base had increased to the point where the original structure needed to be expanded by 1972.
