In 1989, Sicon International was established in San Jose, California, with Taiwanese industrial partners. At first, we focused mostly on creating custom cables for the computer peripheral market. We established our Taiwan office in the early 1990s as the company expanded, progressively enhancing its capabilities to encompass complete engineering and product design. When we realized in the late 1990s that Taiwan's cost structure was growing too quickly, we started making investments in mainland China. We started manufacturing in our own facility in the Guangdong Province of China in 1999. Almost all engineering and manufacturing work was done in China by 2002.
